Teopisto Strolin and his Numismatic Collection

Period

24.09.2017 / 26.11.2017

Description

The exhibit, curated by Alessandro Cattaneo, represents a first restitution of Teopisto Strolin’s donation. He was a numismatic expert who, between the XIX and XX centuries became a reference point for the city of Schio, as a passionate historian, collector and consultant.
The final act of his great generosity was to donate his coin collection to the city.

In addition to their intrinsic value, coins are important because they pass from hand to hand, travelling far and wide and, with the images pressed into them, they tell us stories of people and events in our area and of all those who passed thorough our land in the course of history.

Thanks to the collaboration with the University of Padua, the collection has been reorganised. Their efforts made this exhibition possible and also created a scientific catalogue through which one can fully appreciate the value and beauty of the collection.

The exhibition catalogue is available in Italian, ”«Di poche parole ma ben coniate, come le sue monete». Teopisto Strolin e la sua collezione numismatica’’.
