Description

This exhibition, in addition to highlighting the Centenary of the start of the Great War, is also the first to be realised thanks to the Gori family, who put the Cibin Archive at the city’s disposal.

This fund, which the plaques belong to, is an extraordinary cultural heritage for Schio, collected at the beginning of the last Century by scholar Guido Cibin.

The exhibited plaques are those used by the Amy in our area during the war. You may therefore see plaques that give simple directions on the relocation of troops, those that signal access to stationing and locations important to soldiers’ every day life, those that remember the fallen and occurrences on the front, and so on.

This unique collection, which has reached us intact thanks to Cibin, who found the pieces where the war actually happened, making an inventory of his finds, noting the places and dates as he went on.

Without his work, many of the plaques, especially those made of wood, would have been destroyed or would have deteriorated in time.
