Description

Born in Schio in 1905, Gaetano Veronese was one of the most important voices in XX Century Schio.

After learning how to model iron in his father’s blacksmith workshop, he dedicated himself to sculpture, realising many pieces, especially in relief but also in plaster, clay, wood and cement.

He took part in the Quadriennale of Art in Rome in 1935 and was one of the few Schio artists admitted at the Biennale in Venice (1936). He also worked at SMIT, a company that produced textile machines, especially for Lanerossi.

The exhibition, curated by Liana Ferretti, collects about twenty sculptures, preparatory sketches and studies by this Schio artist who was active especially in the Thirties. It also presents objects and a collection of newspaper articles and publications of the time.

Amongst the works exhibited are “Female Nude” and “Girl with Hat”, the latter exhibited in Venice at the XX Biennale.
