Description

The anthological exhibition on Schio artist Alfredo Ortelli (1889-1963) is born out of the passion of researchers who, for years, has identified and catalogued hundreds of art pieces, rationally reconstructing his long creative career.

Ortelli worked as a poster designer, illustrator and painter in Padua, Turin and, around the 1930’s, in Paris. He met and knew many cultural personalities of the time.

The exhibition shows 103 pieces from 30 private collections: amongst these are 12 paintings from the Ortelli collection that are being exhibited in Schio for the first time and will remain in the Civic Collection.

The retrospective illustrated the artist’s pictorial activity which he developed alongside that of illustrator: he realised frescoes for surrounding churches, many portraits, still lives, landscapes and interior paintings.

Passing through the stimuli of XIX Century art, which the painter adopted, the exhibition aims to bring the public on a journey through the history of his art.
